Error message when you try to install Windows PowerShell 1.0 in Windows Server 2008: "Not enough storage is available to process this command"

When you try to install Windows PowerShell 1.0 on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008, you receive the following error message:Additionally, the following event is logged in the Application event log:

This issue may occur if you try to install Windows PowerShell 1.0 in response to the installation instructions that are included with Microsoft Exchange Server 2007. The Exchange 2007 installation instructions direct you to the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article to obtain Windows PowerShell:

This issue occurs because the version of Windows PowerShell that is mentioned in KB 926139 is not intended to be installed on a Windows Server 2008-based computer. Instead, Windows PowerShell is already available in Windows Server 2008.

To work around this issue, install Windows PowerShell in Windows Server 2008. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Start Server Manager, and then click Features.
2. In the details pane, click Add Features.
3. In the Features list, click to select the Windows PowerShell check box, and then click Next.
4. Click Install.
