Error messages occur when you use Event Viewer on a Windows Vista-based or a Windows Server 2008-based computer to try to view events on remote computers that run versions of Windows earlier than Windows Vista

Symptoms

On a Windows Server 2008-based or a Windows Vista-based computer, you use Event Viewer to try to view events on a remote computer. However, you receive an error message that resembles one that is mentioned in this section.

Note This behavior occurs if the remote computer runs a version of Windows that is earlier than Windows Vista. The error message varies, depending on the operating system that is used on the remote computer.

Windows Server 2003 and Microsoft Windows 2000 Server error message

There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper(1753)

Windows XP error message

Access is Denied(5)

Cause

This issue occurs because the account that you used to log on to the Windows Server 20008-based or the Windows Vista-based computer is not a member of the local Administrators group on the remote computer. In this case, you are not permitted to use Event Viewer to view events on the remote computer.
