FIX: The values of an EDIFACT message are not calculated correctly in BizTalk Server 2006 R2 when the EDIFACT message specifies a comma (,) as the decimal separator in a UNA segment

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You use the EDI Receive pipeline in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 R2 to receive Electronic Data Interchange For Administration, Commerce and Transport (EDIFACT) messages.
  • You use a Cumulative functoid to process the received EDIFACT message in a map.
  • You receive an EDIFACT message.
  • The incoming EDIFACT message contains a UNA segment that specifies a comma (,) as the decimal separator for the EDIFACT message.
  • Certain fields in the incoming EDIFACT message contain a comma (,) as the decimal separator in their value.
In this scenario, the fields that use a comma (,) as the decimal separator are calculated incorrectly after the EDIFACT message is processed. When this problem occurs, there is no error message displayed.

Cause

This problem occurs because the Cumulative functoids expect values that use a period (.) as the decimal separator. When the incoming EDIFACT message contains a value that uses a comma (,) as the decimal separator, the comma (,) is removed. Therefore, the value is not calculated correctly.
