Introduction

On a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server that is running Windows Server 2003, you type the following command at a command prompt:
netsh dhcp server scope x.x.x.x show optionvalue
Note In this command, x.x.x.x represents the DHCP scope that you want to query.

This command lists the options of a DHCP scope and then searches the output of DHCP option 81.

In the Properties dialog box of a DHCP scope in the DHCP Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in, the output value of DHCP option 81 is related to the settings that are shown on the DNS tab of the snap-in. The numeric value that is shown next to the Option Element Value item differs according to the check boxes and the options that you select in the graphical user interface (GUI).

This article lists the values that appear for DHCP option 81. Additionally, it lists the corresponding GUI meanings that are shown on the DNS tab in the Properties dialog box of a DHCP scope.
