A duplicate appointment appears in the Outlook calendar when you run the "Synchronize Outlook with CRM" function in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Outlook

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Microsoft Office Outlook. You send an appointment to another Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Outlook user. You do not track the appointment in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0. The user to whom you sent the appointment tracks the appointment in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0. Then, you run the Synchronize Outlook with CRM function. In this scenario, a duplicate appointment appears in the Microsoft Office Outlook calendar. One appointment is tracked in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0. The other appointment is not tracked in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0.

Additionally, if you try to track the untracked appointment in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0, you receive an error message.

If you are using Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, you receive the following error message:
A SQL Timeout has expired. For more information, contact your system administrator.
If you are using Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, you receive the following error message:
You cannot unshare this record. The owner of the selected record is the only one allowed to remove others from the share.
Therefore, you cannot link the untracked appointment to the correct appointment in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0.
