An update for daylight saving time changes in several countries is available for computers that are running Exchange 2003 SP1

An update for daylight saving time (DST) changes in several countries is now available for computers that are running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1).

Note Exchange 2007 does not require an update to correctly reference DST changes.

Update information

The update that is described in this article changes the time zone data to account for a time zone change in Venezuela in 2007. The update also addresses daylight saving time (DST) changes in several countries. This update adds updated DST information to the Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) time zone tables.

The government of Venezuela has announced a change of 30 minutes in the time difference from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) also known as Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Previously, the time difference between Venezuela and UTC was -4:00. On December 7, 2007, clocks in Venezuela were moved back 30 minutes starting at 03:00 local time. Therefore, the time zone for Venezuela is now GMT-04:30. This time zone update addresses this issue for Exchange 2003.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix. However, the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service and all dependent services will be restarted.
