You can delete a Subject record that is used by a Sales Literature record in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0

When you create a Sales Literature record in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0, and then you specify a Subject record in the Sales Literature record, you can delete the Subject record. However, you should not be able to delete a Subject record if the Subject record is used by a parent record.

This problem was corrected in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 Update Rollup 3.
