SUA uses the default primary domain name instead of the cached primary domain name in Windows Server 2003 R2

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications (SUA) is installed on a system that is running Windows Server 2003 R2. When SUA initializes during the system startup process, SUA queries the domain name. If SUA cannot obtain the domain name from the Active Directory directory service, SUA uses the default primary domain name instead of the cached primary domain name.

For example, SUA may be unable to obtain the domain name if one of the following conditions is true:
  • The network connection is slow or is unavailable.
  • Active Directory responds slowly.
The incorrect domain name that SUA obtains may cause various issues for the system and for applications.
