Symptoms

When you use the 64-bit version of the DV Video Encoder filter in a 64-bit version of Windows Server 2003 or of Windows XP, the application may crash. Additionally, an access violation may occur.

Cause

This problem occurs because the 64-bit version of an internal function expects a different number of parameters than the 32-bit version of the function expects.

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
