FIX: The EDI subsystem may stop processing messages in BizTalk Server 2006

Symptoms

In Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006, the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) subsystem may stop processing messages when lots of messages exist. You cannot resolve this issue by restarting the BizTalk service and the BizTalk Base EDI service.

When this problem occurs, you notice a blocking problem in the BizTalkEDIDb database.

Cause

This problem occurs because of a code defect in the Base EDI Adapter.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, apply the hotfix that is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
913669� FIX: The Base EDI adapter reads only the first AK2 segment in the 997 functional acknowledgement in BizTalk Server 2004 or in BizTalk Server 2006

This problem is known to occur when the Base EDI Adapter processes TA1 interchange acknowledgements and 997 functional acknowledgements. When the Base EDI Adapter processes TA1 interchange acknowledgements and 997 functional acknowledgements, calls that the Base EDI Adapter makes may cause a blocking problem in the BizTalkEDIDb database.

Note This problem occurs because of a problem in the Base EDI Adapter in BizTalk Server 2006. This problem does not occur because of the native EDI functionality in BizTalk Server 2006 R2.
