An update for Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2 is now available for DST changes in several countries

INTRODUCTION

An update is now available for computers that are running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2). This update addresses a time zone change in Venezuela in 2007 and the daylight saving time (DST) changes in several countries.

Update information

The update that is described in this article changes the time zone data to account for a time zone change in Venezuela in 2007. The update also addresses daylight saving time (DST) changes in several countries. This update adds updated DST information to the Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) time zone tables.

The government of Venezuela has announced a change of 30 minutes in the time difference from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) also known as Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Previously, the time difference between Venezuela and UTC was -4:00. On December 7, 2007, clocks in Venezuela were moved back 30 minutes starting at 03:00 local time. Therefore, the time zone for Venezuela is now GMT-04:30. This time zone update addresses this issue for Exchange 2003.

Prerequisites

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix. However, the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service and all dependent services will be restarted.

Hotfix replacement information

This update supersedes and replaces update 926666, which was released in September 2007.
