A hotfix is available to resolve this problem. After you apply this hotfix, the Icacls.exe utility can restore the inheritance bit information successfully.
Additionally, you can set the inheritance bit of files or folders by using the updated Icacls.exe utility together with the
/inheritance parameter. For more information, see the following sample:
/inheritance:e|d|r
e - enables inheritance
d - disables inheritance and copy the ACEs
r - remove all inherited ACEs

To install this hotfix, you must have Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 installed on the computer.

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time.
