Symptoms

In Windows Server 2003, you search for an indexed Microsoft Office document that contains Traditional Chinese characters. However, the document is not returned in the search result as expected.

Cause

This problem occurs because the filter (Offfilt.dll) that is used for Office documents does not correctly recognize the languages. The indexing service selects an incorrect word breaker for the text. Therefore, the search process cannot retrieve the documents as expected.

Resolution

Hotfix information
