After you start a Windows Server 2003-based computer, the computer may stop responding (hang). In this situation, many services cannot start. Additionally, you experience one or more of the following symptoms:
When these symptoms occur, you can still perform the following operations:
- When you use a domain user account to log on to the computer, the logon process becomes unresponsive. Additionally, a gray screen appears after you enter your user name and password in the Windows logon dialog box.
- A gray screen appears after the Windows logon screen saver closes.
- Clients cannot connect to the computer by using Remote Desktop Connection.
When these symptoms occur, you can still perform the following operations:
- When you use a local user account to log on to the computer, the logon process is successful.
- When you ping this computer from another computer, you receive replies.
- You can successfully access any file share on this computer.
