FIX: A general protection fault (GP fault) error occurs when you restart an outgoing queue in Microsoft Message Queuing 3.0

When you restart an outgoing queue in Microsoft Message Queuing 3.0 on a Windows Server 2003-based computer, a general protection fault (GP fault) error occurs.

This problem occurs because a memory access violation occurs in the Message Queuing 3.0 service.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. You must restart the computer if the files that are updated are running when you apply this hotfix.

Steps to reproduce the problem

1. On a Windows Server 2003-based computer that is in a slow network, send several messages to another computer.
2. Pause the newly created outgoing queue.
3. Send more messages from the Windows Server 2003-based computer.
4. In an interval of one second or of two seconds, stop the outgoing queue, and then restart the outgoing queue several times.
