Symptoms

After you install Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2), you may notice that audio playback is distorted when the audio file was created by using the Windows Media Audio Voice 9 codec.

Note This hotfix does not have a 64-bit version for Windows Server 2003. This hotfix package applies the 32-bit version of this hotfix on the 64-bit version of Windows Server 2003.

Steps to reproduce the behavior

  1. In Windows Media Encoder, use the Windows Media Audio Voice 9 codec to create an audio file.
  2. Install Windows Server 2003 SP2.
  3. In Windows Media Player, play the audio file that you created in step 1.
