Error message when you try to distribute marketing activities in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0: "System Aborted"

Symptoms

When you try to distribute marketing activities in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0, you receive the following error message:
System Aborted.
This problem occurs if the instance of Microsoft SQL Server that hosts the Microsoft Dynamics CRM database is running on a high-performance computer. For example, this problem occurs if the instance of SQL Server is running on a computer that has the following hardware components:
  • A CPU that runs at 6 gigahertz (GHz)
  • 9 gigabytes (GB) of random access memory (RAM)
Additionally, you receive an error message in the platform trace log file that resembles one of the following error messages:

Resolution

This problem was corrected in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 Update Rollup 3.

Installation information

Install this hotfix on computers that are running the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 server components or the Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Microsoft Office Outlook components.

After you apply this hotfix, enable the hotfix by following these steps on the computer that is running the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 server components:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  2. In Registry Editor, locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSCRM
  3. Double-click EnableRetryOnErr80040e14, type 1 in the Value data field, and then click OK to save the value.
  4. Click Start, click Run, type iisreset, and then click OK.
Note If you change the value to 0 in the Value data field for the EnableRetryOnErr80040e14 DWORD value, this hotfix is disabled.

Prerequisites

You must have Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 installed to apply this hotfix.

Additionally, you must have Update Rollup 2 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 installed to apply this hotfix.

Restart requirement

If you are prompted to restart the computer, you must restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

Removal information

To remove this hotfix from a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, or Windows 2000, use Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel. System administrators can use the Spuninst.exe tool to remove this hotfix from a computer that is running Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, or Windows 2000.
