Introduction

List of issues fixed

This hotfix fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • If you try to open a local Excel 2003 workbook and a Web-based Excel 2003 workbook by using a single command-line command, two copies of the local workbook open. The Web-based workbook does not open at all.
  • When you copy a range of data from one Excel 2003 workbook into a similarly formatted Excel 2003 workbook, Excel 2003 may stop responding (hang).

This issue occurs when the following conditions are true:
    • Two workbooks are open in separate instances of Excel 2003.
    • The second Excel 2003 workbook also has a list on a separate worksheet.
    • This list on the separate worksheet depends on data that is located on a separate worksheet in the same workbook.
  • When you try to retrieve real-time data by using the Excel 2003 RTD function, an array, and a custom .dll file, the function fails. Additionally, you receive a "#VALUE" error message.
  • In Microsoft Windows Explorer, you locate a text (.txt) file or a comma separated values (.csv) file that uses UDF-8 coding. You right-click the file, point to Open with, and then you click Microsoft Office Excel. In this scenario, Excel 2003 prompts you to use the Import Text wizard to import the text. The Import Text Wizard does not automatically recognize the UDF-8 coding in the file.

This issue does not occur if the file uses UTF-8 coding.
  • In the French, Spanish, and Dutch versions of Excel 2003, if you change a link to a file on a SharePoint server to another file on the SharePoint server, Excel 2003 stops responding (hangs).
  • When you try to synchronize a list in an Excel 2003 workbook that is based on a list that is located on a SharePoint server, you may receive the following error message:
Excel cannot connect to the SharePoint list.
