Symptoms

You have a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based cluster that has the Universal Description, Discovery, and Integration (UDDI) Services Database Components installed. Microsoft SQL Server is running in the cluster. When you try to install the UDDI Services Web Server Components on an active node, the installation fails. Additionally, an error message that resembles the following is logged in the Uddisetup.log file:
06/05/07 11:13:29: Unable to read ClusterName value in regkey SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Cluster, error=234
This problem occurs if the Virtual SQL Server name contains 15 characters.

Cause

This problem occurs because the Uddiocm.dll module allocates a buffer that is not large enough to hold the Virtual SQL Server name that the Uddiocom.dll module reads from the registry.

Workaround

To work around this problem, rename the Virtual SQL Server to a name that contains less than 15 characters. Or, install the UDDI Services Web Server Components in a separate cluster outside the cluster that has the UDDI Services Database Components installed.
