In Windows Server 2003, you cannot configure Windows Deployment Services in Legacy mode

Symptoms

In Microsoft Windows Server 2003, you cannot configure Windows Deployment Services (WDS) in Legacy mode. When you start the Windows Deployment Services Configuration Wizard, you may receive a message that resembles the following:
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: BINLSVC
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1101

Cause

This issue can occur if WDS is installed incorrectly. Also, this issue can occur if WDS is corrupted.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, uninstall and then reinstall WDS. Then, run the Windows Deployment Services Configuration Wizard again.
