Note Before you follow the instructions in this article, make sure that you have a complete backup copy of the database that you can restore if a problem occurs.
To use SSMSE to move the database to a different location, follow these steps:
- Back up the Microsoft Dynamics CRM laptop client for Outlook database that you want to move.
- Log on to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM laptop client for Outlook, click Go Online, and then synchronize all the offline data to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 server.
- Exit the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 laptop client for Outlook.
- Start SSMSE.

- Expand Databases.
- Right-click the Metabase database.
- Point to Tasks, and then click Detach.
- Click OK.
Note If you receive a message that states that some users are connected to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM laptop client for Outlook database, click Drop connection.
- Right-click the MSCRM_MSDE database.
- Repeat step 8 through step 9.
- Move the Metabase database files to the folder where you want to store the Metabase database.
- Move the MSCRM_MSDE database files to the folder where you want to store the MSCRM_MSDE database.
- In SSMSE, right-click Databases, and then click Attach.
- In the Attach databases dialog box, click Add.
- Select the folder to which you moved the Metabase database files, and then click OK.
- In the Attach databases dialog box, click Add.
- Select the folder to which you moved the MSCRM_MSDE database files, and then click OK.
