A meeting request incorrectly shows that the mailbox owner is the only attendee for a meeting when a delegate logs on to the mailbox by using Entourage

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario. On a server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, a mailbox owner configures a delegate to manage his or her calendar. The delegate logs on to the mailbox to accept a meeting request by using a client that is running Microsoft Entourage. In this scenario, the meeting request incorrectly shows that the mailbox owner is the only attendee for the meeting.

Additionally, the calendar item of the mailbox owner incorrectly shows that the owner is the only attendee for the meeting.

Note By default, the delegate receives a copy of the meeting request automatically when the owner receives a meeting request.

Cause

This problem occurs because the Entourage client treats only the recipients in the From line, in the To line, and in the Cc line as the attendees of a meeting. However, the copy of the meeting request is forwarded from owner to delegate automatically. Therefore, the organizer and the other attendees are not included in the To line or in the Cc line.

Workaround

To work around this problem, have the delegate use a client that is running Microsoft Outlook to access the mailbox and to manage the calendar for the owner. The Outlook client will verify the meeting request and will determine the organizer and the attendees.
