View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

When you try to use the Remote Installation Preparation tool (RIPrep) to upload an image to a Windows-based server that is running Remote Installation Services (RIS), you receive an error message that resembles the following:
Reparse Point Found.

The reparse point C:\WINDOWS\Assembly\GAC_32\System.EnterpriseServices\reparse point file name was not found.

This folder will not be copied to the installation image. It is suggested that you write a script to re-create this point after a user's initial logon.

Cause

This problem occurs when the original installation contains a reparse point in the file system. RIPrep does not handle reparse points.
