You can resolve this issue by applying a hotfix. However, the following conditions must be true to apply the hotfix:
- The host names of the print servers can be resolved correctly.
- Every print server has a unique host name on the network.
- Every network printer connection in all user profiles has been disconnected.
Note If these conditions are not true, you may lose access to network printers after you apply the hotfix.

How to apply this hotfix

To apply this hotfix, you must add the ConnectPrintersWithShortNames registry entry. To do this follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print
- On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
- Type ConnectPrintersWithShortNames, and then press ENTER.
- Right-click the ConnectPrintersWithShortNames registry entry, and then click Modify.
- In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
- Exit Registry Editor.
