The Userdump monitoring function is disabled when Windows Server 2003 SP2 is installed

Symptoms

When you install Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2), the User Mode Process Dumper (Userdump) exception monitoring function is disabled.

Cause

This problem occurs because Windows Server 2003 SP2 updates the Ntdll.dll file to a new version of that file. When the Userdump kernel driver detects the new Ntdll.dll file, Userdump stops the monitoring function.

This problem occurs on Userdump version 8.1.2929.4 , or an earlier version of Userdump.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest version of User Mode Process Dumper.
