FIX: Error message when a COM+ 1.5 application tries to marshal the COM+ object context in Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2: "An error occurred during a seek operation"

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario. You install Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2). Then, a Microsoft COM+ 1.5 application tries to marshal the COM+ object context. In this scenario, you may receive the following error message:
Error Result : 0x80030019 ( -2147287015 )
ID Defined as : STG_E_SEEKERROR
Message Text : An error occurred during a seek operation.
This problem is most likely to occur when you use an Active Server Pages (ASP) client.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article.
