FIX: The SQLState section and the NativeError section of an error message are missing when you receive the error message in an ADO application in Windows Server 2003

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • On a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003, you execute an SQL statement in a Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) application.
  • The SQL statement contains an error.
  • The SQL statement is executed asynchronously.
  • You receive an error message as expected.
In this scenario, the SQLState section and the NativeError section of the error message are missing. The error message contains only the HRESULT section, the Source section, and the Description section.

Note If the SQL statement is executed synchronously, the SQLState section and the NativeError section are not missing from the error message.

Cause

This problem occurs because the Error object does not contain the values of the SQLState section and of the NativeError section.

Note The Error object is a parameter that is used to post the error message to the user.
