Symptoms

If several fax clients call the FaxSendDocument API at the same time in Microsoft Windows Server 2003, some documents are faxed to the wrong destination.

Cause

This problem occurs if several clients make requests to send a fax at the same time. When this problem occurs, the fax server that is running the Fxssvc.exe instance creates intermediate files to store fax images and queues the files for additional processing. However, these intermediate files have same file name because several clients make requests to send a fax at the same time. Therefore, some documents are faxed to the wrong destination.
