A memory leak occurs when an application performs a snapshot on a computer that is running Windows Server 2003

A private byte memory leak occurs when an application performs a snapshot on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003. Over time, this memory leak may exhaust system resources. Therefore, performance issues may occur. This problem occurs if the application performs the snapshot by using Volume Shadow Copy Service API functions that are provided in Windows Server 2003.

This problem occurs because Volume Shadow Copy Service does not correctly manage the memory.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
