Error message when you try to view the activities for a contact after multiple opportunities are created in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Outlook: "A SQL Server error occurred"

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Microsoft Office Outlook:
  • You select a contact as a potential customer to convert a lead into an opportunity.
  • You reactivate the lead that you converted.
  • You select the same contact as the potential customer to convert the same lead into the same opportunity.
In this scenario, multiple opportunities are created. Then, when you try to view the activities for the contact, you receive the following error message:
SQL Server Error
A SQL Server error occurred.

Resolution

This problem was corrected in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 Update Rollup 3.
