System calls that are made to serial devices may fail when you use the SUA UNIX interoperability component on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2-based computer

Symptoms

When you use the Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications (SUA) UNIX interoperability component on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2-based computer, you experience the following problems:
  • System calls that are made to serial devices may fail if there is no delay between the system calls. For example, if you use the open() function to call a serial device immediately after you close the existing file descriptor for that serial device, the open() function call fails.
  • The SUA ignores the ALT key when it is pressed together with the arrow keys.
  • The SUA cannot communicate with serial devices that do not support hardware flow control.

Hotfix information

Prerequisites

To apply this hotfix, you must have Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed on the computer. You should also have the Subsystem for Unix-based Applications (SUA)installed.

Technical support for x64-based versions of Microsoft Windows
