A new release of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook is available
If you want to run the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Outlook on a computer that is running Windows Vista or the 2007 Office programs, you must upgrade to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Outlook Compatibility Update.
Notes- The first release version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Outlook is incompatible with Windows Vista and with the 2007 Office programs.
- The Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Outlook Compatibility Update is compatible with Microsoft Windows XP together with Office XP or Office 2003.
To upgrade to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Outlook Compatibility Update, use one of the following methods.
Method 1
Note Use this method if you want to upgrade to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Outlook Compatibility Update on a computer that is running the following programs:
- Windows XP
- Office XP or Office 2003
- The Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Outlook or Microsoft CRM 1.2 Sales for Outlook (the Outlook client)
To use this method, follow these steps:
- Run the Setup.exe file on the client.
Notes- The Setup.exe file is part of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Outlook Compatibility Update release.
- Do not run the Client.msi file or the Lightclient.msi file.
- Select to install the desktop client or the laptop client.
Notes- You cannot upgrade a Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 laptop client for Outlook to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 desktop client for Outlook Compatibility Update.

- Complete the wizard.
Method 2
Note Use this method if you want to upgrade to Windows Vista and to the 2007 Office programs together with the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Outlook Compatibility Update on a computer that is running the following programs:
- Windows XP
- Office XP or Office 2003

The Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Outlook or Microsoft CRM 1.2 Sales for Outlook (the Outlook client)
To use this method, follow these steps:
- Upgrade to Windows Vista and the 2007 Office programs.
Note We recommend that you uninstall the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Outlook or Microsoft CRM 1.2 Sales for Outlook before you upgrade to Windows Vista and to the 2007 Office programs.
- Install the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Outlook Compatibility Update.
Note If you upgrade to Windows Vista together with the first released Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Outlook, you may experience one or more of the following problems:
- When you try to uninstall the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Outlook, you receive an error message that resembles the following error message:
AdvertiseProduct failed: This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.
When this problem occurs, you cannot uninstall the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Outlook.
- In the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Outlook, the Microsoft Dynamics CRM buttons in Outlook work incorrectly.
To resolve these problems, you should upgrade to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Outlook Compatibility Update.
