Error message after you use the ISA2KExport.exe tool to migrate ISA Server 2000 to ISA Server 2004, Standard Edition

Symptoms

You use the ISA2KExport.exe tool to migrate Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000 with Service Pack 1 (SP1) or with Service Pack 2 (SP2) to ISA Server 2004, Standard Edition. After you do this, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:

This tool requires Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000 Standard Edition and ISA Server Service Pack 1 (or later).

Cause

This issue occurs if the MS-ISA_S@v3.0.1200.50 registry entry does not exist in the registry. This registry entry must contain the path of the ISA Server installation.

Resolution

Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.

To resolve this issue, add the MS-ISA_S@v3.0.1200.50 registry entry in the registry. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type Regedit, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MS Setup (ACME)\Table Files
  3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click String Value.
  4. Type MS-ISA_S@v3.0.1200.50, and then press ENTER.
  5. Right-click MS-ISA_S@v3.0.1200.50, and then click Modify.
  6. In the Value data box, type the path of the ISA Server installation, and then click OK.
  7. Exit Registry Editor.
