You cannot download or run an Excel 2007 report when you click "Download Report" or "Run Report" on the "More Actions" menu in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0

Symptoms

When you click Download Report or Run Report on the More Actions menu in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0, you cannot download or run a Microsoft Office Excel 2007 report.

Note You can run the Excel 2007 report by double-clicking the report.

This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
  • You use Windows Internet Explorer 7.
  • You do not use the default security settings in Internet Explorer 7.

Workaround

To work around this problem, use one of the following methods.

Method 1

Reset the security settings to the default level for the local intranet zone. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open Internet Explorer 7.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  3. On the Security tab, click Local intranet, click Default level, click Apply, and then click OK.

Method 2

Enable the Automatic prompting for file downloads security settings. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open Internet Explorer 7.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  3. On the Security tab, click Local intranet, and then click Custom level.
  4. In the Security Settings - Local Intranet Zone dialog box, click Enable under Automatic prompting for file downloads.
  5. Click OK two times.
