After you install Windows Internet Explorer 7 on a computer that is running Windows XP with Service Pack 2, a Restore My Active Desktop button appears on the desktop. However, when you click this button, nothing happens. This article helps you fix this problem.

To fix this problem, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
3. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\Components
4. In the right pane, right-click DeskHtmlVersion, and then click Modify.
5. In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.
6. Exit Registry Editor.

Now go to the "Did this fix the problem?" section.

Log off from Windows, and then log on. Determine whether the Restore My Active Desktop button was removed. If it is gone, you are finished with this article. If the button is still there, you can contact support.
