FIX: You receive an Event ID 5719 error message when you process a message that contains consecutive empty elements in BizTalk Server 2006

Symptoms

In Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:

Event Source: BizTalk Server 2006
Event Category: BizTalk Server 2006 
Event ID: 5719
Description:
There was a failure executing the receive pipeline: "pipelinename.Details" Reason: Unexpected event ("document_start") in state "processing_empty_document".

This problem occurs when you process a message that uses a document structure that resembles the following. The message contains consecutive empty elements:
<envelope>
	<doc1 />
	<doc2 />
</envelope>

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Workaround

To work around this problem, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Change the message structure

The following example shows how to use start tags and end tags to mark the empty elements:

</envelope>

Method 2: Use the ELEMENTS option in the FOR XML clause

If you experience this problem when you use the SQL adapter, use the ELEMENTS option in the FOR XML clause.
