Symptoms

You cannot create an Audio Video Interleaved (AVI) file that is larger than approximately 512 gigabytes (GB). Additionally, you cannot play back an AVI file that is larger than approximately 800 GB.

Cause

This problem occurs because the AVI file creation limit in Microsoft DirectX is approximately 512 GB, and the AVI file playback limit in Microsoft DirectX is approximately 800 GB.

After you apply this hotfix, the new AVI file creation limit is approximately 11 terabytes. The new AVI file playback limit is approximately 1.7 terabytes.
