Symptoms

After you install the Finnish version or the Norwegian version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0, and you sort a list of entries that contain Finnish or Norwegian characters, the list of entries is not sorted as expected. Finnish or Norwegian characters include �, �, �, �, �, and �.

Cause

This problem may occur if the collation of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM database is set to Latin1_General_CI_AS.

Note You expect the collation of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM database to be set to one of the following collations:
  • For the Finnish version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0, you expect the collation of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM database to be set to Finnish_Swedish_CI_AI.
  • For the Norwegian version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0, you expect the collation of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM database to be set to Danish_Norwegian_CI_AS.

Resolution

Workaround

To work around this problem, transfer the Microsoft Dynamics CRM database from the Latin1_General_CI_AS collation in Microsoft SQL Server, as follows:
  • For the Finnish version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0, transfer the Microsoft Dynamics CRM database to the Finnish_Swedish_CI_AI collation in Microsoft SQL Server.
  • For the Norwegian version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0, transfer the Microsoft Dynamics CRM database to the Danish_Norwegian_CI_AS collation in Microsoft SQL Server.
