A user account may be inconsistent across a DHCP cluster when you change the DNS dynamic update credentials in Windows Server 2003

Symptoms

You change the Domain Name System (DNS) dynamic update credentials on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 in a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) cluster. When you do this, the user account may be inconsistent across the DHCP cluster.

Cause

This problem occurs because the DNS dynamic update credentials are stored in certain registry locations. These locations are outside the cluster hive and outside the DHCP registry locations that are replicated in the cluster hive.

Workaround

To work around this problem, follow these steps:
1.Start the DHCP snap-in.
2.Right-click the virtual server name, and then click Properties.
3.Click the Advanced tab, and then click Credentials.
4. In the DNS dynamic update credentials dialog box, change the credentials to the account that you want to use. Also, failover to the second node in the DHCP cluster.
5.Repeat the steps 1 through 3 for all the nodes in this DHCP cluster.
Note The settings must be the same in all the nodes of the DHCP cluster.
