Symptoms

You receive a "STOP 0x50" error message that is related to win32k!HmgDecrementShareReferenceCount+0xb on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based terminal server.

Cause

This problem occurs if Windows dereferences a freed Graphics Device Interface (GDI) object. For example, this problem occurs if Windows dereferences a device context from the cached device context list of the user.
