Error message when you try to use the Automatic Reconnection feature to connect to a Sun ONE Directory Server 5.2 from a Windows Server 2003-based client computer: "The server is not operational"

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You are running a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based client computer.
  • You try to use the Automatic Reconnection feature to connect to a computer that is running Sun ONE Directory Server 5.2 (formerly iPlanet Directory Server).
  • You are using the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP).
  • You are using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).
In this scenario, you may receive the following error message:
The server is not operational.
This problem does not occur when you use the Automatic Reconnection feature to connect to a server that is running:
  • The Active Directory directory service
  • LDAP
  • SSL
This problem may also occur when you try to connect to third-party LDAP SSL servers other than Sun ONE Directory Server 5.2.

Hotfix information

Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
