Error message when internal SecureNAT client computers access a Web site that is published by ISA Server 2004: "Cannot find server or DNS Error"

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You publish a Web site by using Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004.
  • The ISA Server 2004 Web listener is configured to listen on the external network for HTTPS traffic.
  • You configure an access rule on the same ISA Server computer. This access rule is for the internal secure network address translation (SecureNAT) client computers to access HTTPS Web sites on the external network.
In this scenario, when internal client computers access the published Web site, the internal client computers may receive an error message that resembles the following:
Cannot find server or DNS Error
Note This problem does not occur if you configure the internal client computers as Web proxy client computers.
