You may not see the values of the promoted fields when you upload an InfoPath 2007 form to a document library

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario. You upload a Microsoft Office InfoPath 2007 form to a document library. The document library contains promoted fields. In this scenario, you may not see the values of the promoted fields in the document library.

This problem occurs because the prefixes of the namespaces are changed.

Steps to reproduce the problem

  1. Create a blank InfoPath 2007 form. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Start InfoPath 2007.
    2. On the File menu, click Design a Form Template.
    3. Click Blank, and then click OK.
    4. Click Controls, and then add a text box control to the left pane.

      Note By default, the name of this control is field1.
  2. Publish the InfoPath 2007 form to a server. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. On the File menu, click Publish, and then save the file when you are prompted.
    2. Click To a SharePoint Server with or without InfoPath Forms Services, and then click Next.
    3. Type the location of the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 site or of the InfoPath Forms Service site, and then click Next.
    4. Click Document Library, and then click Next.
    5. Click Create a new document library, and then click Next.
    6. In the Name box, type a name, and then click Next.
    7. Click Add, click field1, and then click OK.
    8. Click Next, click Publish, and then click Close.
  3. Create a new form that is based on the document library. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Click New, and then type a value in the box.
    2. On the File menu, click Save.
    3. Type a name when you are prompted, and then click Save.
  4. In Notepad, open the saved file, and then change the prefixes of the namespaces.

    For example, change each "my:" entry to an "nz:" entry.
  5. Save the changes.
  6. Upload the form to the document library. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Go to the document library Web page that you created in step 2.
    2. On the document library Web page, click Upload.
    3. On the Upload Document Web page, click Browse.
    4. Click the name of the form, click Open, and then click OK two times.
