You may receive an error message when you try to open a program in the beta version of a 2007 Microsoft Office suite by using a Terminal Service session: "This copy of Microsoft Office Word cannot be used on Terminal Server"

You install the beta version of a 2007 Microsoft Office suite on a computer that is running the Terminal Services service. Then, you try to open a 2007 Microsoft Office program by using a Terminal Services session. When you do this, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:

This problem occurs because the Terminal Services service requires that you use a specific product license key during the installation of the beta version of the 2007 Microsoft Office suite.

There are two methods to resolve this issue. You can uninstall and then reinstall the beta version of the 2007 Microsoft Office suite by using the new product license key that is mentioned in Method 1. Or you can use Method 2 to modify the registry without uninstalling the beta version of the suite. Use one of the methods as appropriate for your situation.

Method 1: Uninstall and then reinstall the beta version of the 2007 Microsoft Office suite

To resolve this problem, first uninstall the beta version of the 2007 Microsoft Office suite. Then, use the following product license key to install the beta version of the 2007 Microsoft Office suite:

Method 2: Modify the registry without uninstalling the beta version of the 2007 Microsoft Office suite

Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.

To remove the existing product license key for the beta version of the 2007 Microsoft Office suite without uninstalling the suite, you can modify the registry subkeys that reference the registration for the beta version of the suite. To do this, follow these steps:

1.	Close all Microsoft Office applications.
2.	Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
3.	Locate the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration Note You may also find another subkey that resembles the following subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration\{30120000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}
4.	If you find additional subkeys that reference Microsoft 12.0 registration, open each subkey, and then identify the product by the ProductName entry. For example: ProductName=Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007
5.	When you find the subkey for the product from which you want to remove the existing product license key, delete the following entries: � DigitalProductID � ProductID
6.	Exit Registry Editor.

The next time that you try to run an Office application, you will be prompted for a new product license key. Then, you can enter the product license key that is mentioned in the "Method 1: Reinstall the beta version of the 2007 Microsoft Office suite" section. After you do this, you can use the Terminal Services service functionality.
