The "Send to OneNote" button is missing when you open a custom message in Outlook 2007

Symptoms

When you open a custom message in Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, the Send to OneNote button is missing.

Note The Send to OneNote button enables you to save a copy of the current message in Microsoft Office OneNote 2007.

Cause

This behavior occurs when OneNote 2007 does not recognize the custom message class.

Workaround

Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
  1. In Outlook 2007, right-click the Subject column heading, and then click Field Chooser.
  2. Set the list at the top of the Field Chooser to show All Mail fields.
  3. Drag the Message Class field to the column headings to add the Message Class field to the view.
  4. Note the message class of the custom message.
  5. Exit Outlook.
  6. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  7. Locate the
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\12.0\OneNote
    subkey.
  8. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.
  9. Type Outlook Add-in, and then press ENTER.
  10. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.
  11. Type Message Classes, and then press ENTER.
  12. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD.
  13. Type the name of the message class that you noted in step 4. Then, press ENTER.
  14. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
  15. Type 3, and then click OK.
  16. Exit Registry Editor.
