The Compose Message form stops responding after you install Internet Explorer 7.0 and the S/MIME control on an Outlook Web Access client in Exchange Server 2003

Consider the following scenario:

• You install Windows Internet Explorer 7.0 on a Microsoft Outlook Web Access client computer.
• You install an S/MIME control on the client.
• You use a mail server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003.

When you use the Outlook Web Access client to open a Compose Message form, the form stops responding.

To resolve this problem, install the following hotfix on all the Exchange Server 2003 servers. Then, reinstall the S/MIME control on the Outlook Web Access client. You can reinstall the S/MIME control from Options in Outlook Web Access.

Note There was an earlier version of this hotfix (7651.43). If you already installed the earlier version of this hotfix, you must update the earlier version of this hotfix to the current version (7651.60) on all front-end Exchange servers and back-end Exchange servers.
