The text formatting changes when you paste text from a Word 2007 document into a Word 97 - 2003 document

When you copy the text from a Microsoft Office Word 2007 document and then paste the text into a Word 97 - 2003 document, one of the following symptoms may occur.

Symptom 1

Text that is formatted with a theme in a Word 2007 document may not retain the formatting when you paste the text into a Word 97 - 2003 document.

For example, when the text in a Word 2007 document is formatted with the Civic theme, the text color is gray. When you copy the text from the Word 2007 document and then paste the text into a Word 97 - 2003 document, the text color changes to blue.

Symptom 2

Text that is copied from a Word 2007 document may unexpectedly retain the theme font association when you paste the text into a Word 97 - 2003 document.

For example, the text in a Word 2007 document is formatted with the following font and theme font association:

• Cambria (Heading)
  Cambria is the font. Heading is the theme font association.
• Calibri (Body)
  Calibri is the font. Body is the theme font association.

When you copy the text from the Word 2007 document and then paste the text in a Word 97 - 2003 document, the theme font association for the heading font is unexpectedly retained. You expect that the theme font association is not retained when the text is pasted into a document that is not a Word 2007 document.
