A value that is specified in a text box is reset to the default value when you open the form in the InfoPath 2007 client

Symptoms

When you open a form in the Microsoft Office InfoPath 2007 client, the value that is specified in a text box is reset to the default value. This problem does not occur when you open the form in a browser.

Steps to reproduce the problem
  1. Start InfoPath 2007.
  2. On the File menu, click Design a Form.
  3. Click Blank, click to select the Enable browser-compatible features only check box, and then click OK.
  4. Insert two text boxes.
  5. Use the value in the second text box as the default value of the first text box. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Double-click the first text box.
    2. In the Default Value section, click fx.
    3. Click Insert Field or Group.
    4. Double-click field2. This step specifies that any value that appears in the second text box (field2) is the default value of the first text box.
    5. Click OK two times.
  6. Save the form template.
  7. Publish the form template to the server as a document library.
  8. Open the document library that you published in step 7, and then create a new document.
  9. In the second text box, type 2. The default value in the first text box is now also 2.
  10. In the first text box, type 1 to overwrite the default value.
  11. Save the document.
  12. Open the form in the InfoPath client. The value in the first text box has been reset to the default value that appears in the second text box.
  13. Open the form in a browser. The first text box has retained the value that you specified in step 10.
