Symptoms

Consider the following scenario. In Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2), you use Outlook Web Access to create a new e-mail message. You type a recipient's display name in the To box or in the Cc box. In this scenario, the Store.exe process may crash when you click either Check Names or Send.

This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
  • The format of the recipient's display name resembles the following format:
    user_name [department_name]
  • When you type the recipient's display name, you include the left bracket ([). However, you do not include the right bracket (]). For example, you type user_name [department_name.
