In BizTalk Server 2006, you may receive an error message that the BizTalk Host name is not valid when you try to configure the BizTalk Server runtime

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario. In Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006, you run the BizTalk Server Configuration Wizard. When you try to configure the BizTalk Server runtime, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:
name is invalid because it contains one or more of the following characters: `~!@#$%^&*( )+=[]{}|\/ ;:"'<>,.?-
In this error message, name is the name that you typed for the BizTalk Host name.

Cause

This issue occurs if the BizTalk Host name contains an invalid character. Additionally, this issue occurs if the BizTalk Host name contains a space.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, type a BizTalk Host name that does not contain invalid characters or spaces.
